Compensation for medical expenses

Apply for compensation for medical expenses

The Occupational Accidents, Injuries and Diseases Act that entered into force on 1 January 2016 changed the compensation practices for medical expenses. Now customers pay themselves first any expenses for medication prescribed to them for the treatment of an occupational injury or disease. After that, the customer can claim for compensation for the expenses from If. The application must be sent within 12 months from the date of purchase of the medication.

Applying for compensation of medical expenses

  1. Enter your claim number. You can find it at the top of the document you have received from If (for example, 16.000..., 17.000...).
  2. Fill in the claim form and send it.
  3. We will contact you if we need additional information, receipts for the costs etc.

If you are on long-term medication due to a compensable occupational injury or disease, you can apply for the insurer's payment commitment for the purchase of medication. Please contact the claims handling specialist in charge of your claim.
